NenaBihx is a novelist and poet whose work explores decadence, privilege, addiction, beauty, and the fractures beneath cultivated lives. Born in Vienna and raised between cultures as the daughter of a diplomat, she began her career writing press releases for a prominent gallery, then moved through the art, design, and rock-and-roll archive worlds, collaborating with photographers, musicians, and cultural institutions. Her background in fine art, antiques, interiors, and music history informs the cultural detail and social worlds of her fiction. Trained early to make beauty legible and desirable, she now writes in a lyrical, psychologically charged style that echoes the decadent tradition, examining the darker mythology of modern glamour.
My work is drawn to the intersection of beauty & dissolution, exploring privilege, indulgence, addiction, and the private fractures concealed beneath cultivated lives.
It stands in the tradition of 19th-century Decadent literature, with its fascination with
beauty, artifice, transgression,
and the darker consequences of excess.
I'm captivated by the art of language, & its capacity to transform thought into something almost tactile.
My sensibility is shaped by a love of old cinema, particularly the elegance and theatricality of its dialogue, and by writers whose work is musical, daring, and unafraid of unconventional forms. My literary affinities span John Keats and Shakespeare to Charles Baudelaire and Oscar Wilde, as well as Tennessee Williams, Aleister Crowley, & Angela Carter.Â
I long for literature that dares, disrupts
& delightfully indulges the senses.
